Balinese massage is a holistic technique consisting of a mixture of deep tissue, acupressure, reflexology, aromatherapy and stretching movements that increase blood circulation and reduce pain in the muscles and joints.
Balinese massage takes its name from Bali, a small, volcanic island in Indonesia. Bali massage, which is applied to the whole body with strong movements, provides relaxation in the body by accelerating blood circulation and reducing muscle tension, as in most other types of massage.
With moderate-intensity blows and massage applied with pressure, it is reached under the superficial muscle layers. Lymph circulation is also activated, which helps cleanse the body of waste and germs.
Unlike other types of massage, Bali massage starts from the foot, not from the head. The reason for this is that the nerve endings all over the body are directly connected to certain points on the bottom of the foot. By applying pressure to these points, it is aimed to dominate and relax the whole body.
In the application of Balinese massage, which has many varieties, herbal oils, dried plants specific to the region, volcanic stones and fresh fruits are used. The most commonly used herbs are lavender, pine, pineapple and coconut.
Plants such as wild ginger and red pepper used in the oil mixture called “boreh” increase body temperature during massage and accelerate blood circulation. Balinese massage is offered in a wide variety of combinations. The most applied types are "Exotic Bali Massage" and "Lulur Royal", which are usually terminated with aromatherapy and reflexology massages.
Exotic Balinese massage:
This massage starts with peeling using natural plant extracts. Then the body is cleaned by massaging with a mixture called “boreh”. Finally, a "yogurt mask" is applied and this part of the massage ends with a bath prepared from the essences of local flowers. The massage, followed by aromatherapy and reflexology, takes a total of two and a half hours.
Lulur royal: In this massage, peeling is done with a mixture called 'lulur'. Afterwards, there is a flower bath that relaxes the muscles and moisturizes the skin. The Lulur Royal massage takes about two hours.
